His consciousness is flung into the body of a sixteen-pound orange tabby named Yuanbao, while the cat's soul struts off in Leo's handsome human body. To reclaim his life, Leo must crack a run of impossible cybercrimes with three tools that were never meant to share a case: a cat's senses, a human identity he no longer controls, and world-class hacking. The Hook A cat goes where no investigator can — into vents, under floorboards, close enough to smell the lie everyone else missed. Leo keeps his genius; he just can't speak, working the case through a keyboard, a collar-voice, and a laser pointer he's ashamed to admit still works on him. Meanwhile Yuanbao runs Leo's body on pure instinct — licking his hands mid-interrogation, dozing off in depositions, and turning every social situation into a small disaster. Two souls, two bodies, one truth to prove. The Trio - Leo Shen — cool, arrogant, obsessive; a brilliant mind trapped behind whiskers. - Yuanbao — greedy, feral, fearless; the comic engine and the action wildcard. - Mia Lin — forensic-tech consultant and former prosecution analyst; the human passport, the courtroom logic, and the emotional center — the only person who can read both the cat wearing Leo's mind and the man wearing a cat's. Behind them stands the hidden mastermind — neurochip scientist Dr. Adrian Ji and his order, White Noise, who intend to prove that free will is nothing but editable data. As the fragments assemble, Leo realizes the horrifying truth: his transformation was never an accident, but a failed experiment. In the finale, with New LA sliding into a citywide cognitive hijack, he must surrender his one chance to change back — and save the city as a cat.
